Guides
Payments guideConnect your Stripe accountGet paid into your own Stripe account: create one restricted key with three permissions (four if you use Stripe Tax), paste it once in LotsStore, and test an order before going live.
Shoppers pay on Stripe's checkout page and the money goes straight to your own Stripe balance, then to your bank on Stripe's usual schedule. LotsStore takes 0% of your sales; Stripe charges its own processing fee.
You create one key in Stripe and paste it once. It takes about five minutes. Stripe works for businesses in the countries Stripe supports. If your business is registered in India, use Razorpay instead.
Why this is safe
- The key has only three permissions, or four if you use Stripe Tax. It cannot pay out money, change your bank account, or touch your products, customers or subscriptions in Stripe.
- We store the key encrypted and never show it again, not to you, your team or anyone at LotsStore.
- LotsStore never sees card numbers. Shoppers enter them on Stripe's own checkout page.
- Money goes straight to your Stripe balance. LotsStore never holds your money or your shoppers' money.
- You can switch it off at any time: delete the key in Stripe and payments through it stop at once.
Create the key in Stripe
- 1Sign in to your Stripe Dashboard. Start in test mode (or a sandbox), so you can try an order without real money.
- 2Open Developers, then API keys (dashboard.stripe.com/apikeys).
- 3Click Create restricted key. If Stripe offers a starting set of permissions, start from none. Name the key LotsStore.
- 4Set these three to Write and leave everything else on None: Checkout Sessions, Charges and Webhook Endpoints. If you'll use Stripe Tax, also set Tax Calculations, Transactions to Write. The table below says what each one is for.
- 5Click Create key and finish Stripe's verification. Copy the key: it starts with
rk_test_in test mode. Stripe shows it only once.
What each permission is for
| Permission | Level | Why LotsStore needs it |
|---|---|---|
| Checkout Sessions | Write | Opens Stripe's own checkout page for each order, so shoppers pay on Stripe. |
| Charges | Write | Lets you refund an order from LotsStore. Refunds sit under Charges in Stripe. |
| Webhook Endpoints | Write | Creates one notification in your Stripe account that tells your store when a payment goes through. |
| Tax Calculations, TransactionsOptional | Write | Only if you use Stripe Tax: lets LotsStore ask Stripe for the tax on each order and record it in your Stripe Tax reports. |
Paste it in LotsStore
- 1In your dashboard, open your store, then Payments. Set Payment mode to Test mode.
- 2Paste the key into Stripe restricted key, tick Enabled on the Stripe card, and click Save payment settings.
- 3We check the key with Stripe and set up the payment notification for you. In Stripe you will see a webhook described as LotsStore under Developers, then Webhooks. If a permission is missing, we tell you which one to change.
Test an order, then go live
- 1With Customers can order and pay on, place an order on your store and pay with Stripe's test card
4242 4242 4242 4242, any future expiry date and any CVC. - 2Check that the order shows as paid in Orders. Open the order: before you accept it, Reject order refunds it in full; after you accept it, use Send refund under Refunds for all of it or part of it, or Cancel and refund to cancel the order and refund everything left. Refunds go out within 15 minutes. Check the refund in Stripe.
- 3To go live, repeat the key steps with test mode off (the key starts with
rk_live_). On the Payments page, set Payment mode to Live mode, paste the live key and save.
Stripe Tax (optional)
To let Stripe work out the tax on your orders, first open Tax in your Stripe Dashboard and add your business address and the places where you're registered. Then give the LotsStore key the fourth permission above and tick Use Stripe Tax on your store's Taxes page. Stripe charges you for Stripe Tax. You can add the permission later: edit the key in Stripe, you don't need to paste it again. How tax works on your store
Switching it off
Untick Enabled on the Stripe card to stop offering Stripe at checkout. To cut access completely, open Developers, then API keys in Stripe, open the menu next to the LotsStore key and delete it. Orders already paid stay in your Stripe account.
Payments guideConnect your Razorpay accountGet paid into your own Razorpay account: sign in or create an account on Razorpay, approve LotsStore, and test an order before going live.
Shoppers pay by card, UPI, netbanking or wallet on Razorpay's checkout, and the money settles to your own Razorpay account and bank. LotsStore takes 0% of your sales; Razorpay charges its own processing fee.
Razorpay is for businesses registered in India. Elsewhere, use Stripe. No key to copy: you sign in on Razorpay's own site and approve LotsStore there.
Why this is safe
- You never give us your Razorpay password. You sign in on Razorpay's site, and you can see what you approve before you approve it.
- We use the access only to create payments for your orders, check whether they were paid, and make the refunds you approve. It is stored encrypted.
- LotsStore never sees card numbers or UPI PINs. Shoppers pay on Razorpay's own checkout.
- Money settles to your bank on Razorpay's schedule. LotsStore never holds your money or your shoppers' money.
- You can remove LotsStore's access from your Razorpay Dashboard at any time.
Connect in test mode first
- 1In your dashboard, open your store, then Payments. Set Payment mode to Test mode and save.
- 2On the Razorpay card, click Create or connect Razorpay. Razorpay opens.
- 3Sign in to your Razorpay account, or create one. If you do not see a sign-up option, open the link in a private window or sign out of Razorpay first.
- 4Review the access Razorpay shows and approve LotsStore. You come back to your Payments page, and the Razorpay card says Connected.
- 5Tick Enabled, choose whether to review every order or accept paid orders automatically, and click Save payment settings.
- 6In your Razorpay Dashboard, open Account & Settings, then Payment capture, and keep it on automatic capture (Razorpay's default). LotsStore does not capture payments itself. With manual capture, Razorpay returns payments nobody captured to the customer after a few days.
Test an order, then go live
- 1With Customers can order and pay on, place an order on your store and pay with one of Razorpay's test cards.
Check the refund in Razorpay.
- 3Razorpay activates live payments after it checks your business details (KYC). When your account is activated, set Payment mode to Live mode on the Payments page and connect Razorpay again.
Switching it off
Untick Enabled on the Razorpay card to stop offering Razorpay at checkout. To cut access completely, remove LotsStore from the connected apps in your Razorpay Dashboard. Orders already paid stay in your Razorpay account.
Taxes guideTax on your storeAdd where you're registered, set the tax rates you charge per country and region or switch on Stripe Tax, give products a tax category, and see how your invoices and receipts look.
LotsStore calculates the tax on each order from the registrations and rates you set, or from Stripe Tax if you switch it on, shows it to the shopper at checkout, and puts it on the invoice or receipt.
You are responsible for registering for tax, choosing the right rates and filing your returns. LotsStore does not register you, check your rates or file anything for you.
1. Add where you're registered
- 1Open your store, then Taxes.
- 2Under Where you're registered, press Add registration for each place where you hold a tax registration, for example United Kingdom VAT, Texas sales tax or India GST (with your GSTIN and state).
- 3Mark one as Home. Your home registration decides the title of your invoices.
If you're not registered anywhere, leave the list empty. Your store then charges no tax and issues receipts.
2. Set your rates
Under Tax rates, add a rate for each place where you charge tax: a whole country (Germany 19%) or a state or region (California 7.25%). A rate only charges tax where you have a registration. Places without a rate pay no tax.
For the United Kingdom, the EU, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the UAE, South Africa, Canada, Malaysia and India, the Taxes page shows the standard rate we last checked, with the date and the source, for example Suggested: 20% (standard rate, checked 28 Oct 2026, source gov.uk). It is only a suggestion: press Use or Add this rate, check it, then save. We never add or change a saved rate. If a suggestion you used changes later, the Taxes page tells you so you can review your rate.
In the United States, add one rate per state where you're registered. LotsStore does not add city or county rates for you. For a local rate, add a ZIP code rate: one ZIP code (78701), a prefix (787*) or a range (78701-78799) with the full rate, state and local together. It replaces the state rate for those ZIP codes, and when several match, the most specific one is used.
For a place where you sell but charge no tax, you can add a rate with the treatment Export, no tax or Not collected here, so your records say why.
3. Give products a tax category
Every product uses Standard until you choose another category. Add categories such as Food or Books under Tax categories, then set what each one pays in each country under Tax rates. Choose a product's category on its page, under Tax category, or for many products at once: tick them in the product list, choose the category and press Set tax. A single variant can have its own category.
Prices on your store show incl. VAT, incl. GST or incl. tax when your prices include tax, and + tax when tax is added at checkout. A store that is not registered anywhere shows no label.
India stores can keep an HSN or SAC code and a GST rate on each category.
4. Prices, shipping and rounding
- My prices include tax: shoppers pay the price they see. The tax inside it follows their country, and a country without tax pays the same price.
- Without it, tax is added at checkout after the shopper enters their address.
- Shipping can be taxed the same way as the items in the order, at one rate of its own, or not at all. A rate can also say Tax shipping here off for one state or country.
- Tax is rounded half up, once for each tax rate on an order, or on each line if you choose that.
5. India GST
Orders in your own state show CGST and SGST; orders to other states show IGST. Orders shipped outside India charge IGST unless you choose Exports under LUT (no IGST). Composition and unregistered stores charge no GST and issue a bill of supply.
6. Invoices and receipts
Each order gets one document when you accept it, titled for your home registration: for example a VAT invoice in the United Kingdom, a tax invoice in India or Australia, an invoice in the EU or Canada, and a receipt in the United States or when you're not registered. Numbers run in order without gaps, for example INV/26-27/000001 or RCPT/2026/000001. Documents already issued never change.
The Taxes page shows the title and number your next document will have.
7. Stripe Tax (optional)
If you take payments with your own Stripe account, you can switch on Use Stripe Tax on the Taxes page. Stripe then works out the tax for each shopper's address, including city and county rates in the US, using the registrations you add in your own Stripe account. It does this for every order, whatever the shopper pays with, so the total never changes when they pick another way to pay. Each sale and refund is recorded in your Stripe Tax reports. Stripe charges you for Stripe Tax on your Stripe bill.
- 1In your Stripe Dashboard, open Tax. Add your business address and each place where you're registered. Stripe only charges tax where you've added a registration in Stripe.
- 2Open Developers, then API keys, edit your LotsStore key and set Tax Calculations, Transactions to Write.
- 3On the Taxes page, tick Use Stripe Tax and save. LotsStore asks Stripe for one test calculation first and tells you what to fix if it doesn't work.
When prices include tax, the shopper still pays the price they see; only the tax inside it follows their address. If Stripe can't answer, checkout asks the shopper to try again in a minute and no order is placed. You can choose Use my own rates if Stripe Tax is unavailable instead; those orders show Tax from: your rates (Stripe Tax was unavailable). If your Stripe connection is removed, checkout uses your own rates.
What LotsStore does and doesn't do
- It calculates and shows tax from your own registrations and rates, or from Stripe Tax when you switch it on, and keeps a record of the tax on each order.
- It suggests standard rates for some countries, with the date we checked them and the source, but never saves or updates a rate for you. It does not check tax numbers, decide where you must register, or file returns.
- Check your rates with your tax office or adviser before you start selling, and again when rates change.
Shipping guideShipping and deliverySet where you deliver, what each delivery costs, local pickup and delivery dates, then pack, ship and deliver each order and see what your shoppers see.
You choose where you deliver, what each delivery costs and how long it takes. At checkout LotsStore shows each shopper the options that fit their address and order, with a price and a delivery date. You pack and send the orders yourself with any courier, then mark each step on the order page.
Everything on this page is on your store's Shipping page in the dashboard.
1. Zones: where you deliver
A zone is a group of addresses. Give it a name and any of: countries (IN, US, GB), state or region codes (TN, CA), and postcode rules. Leave a box empty to match everything.
- One postcode: 600001
- Postcodes that start the same: 600*
- A range of number postcodes: 600001-600099
- Several rules: separate them with commas. Excluded postcodes takes the same rules for places inside the zone you don't deliver to.
When an address fits more than one zone, only the zone higher in your list is used. Put small zones (one city) above big ones (the whole country) with the arrow buttons. A method with no zone is offered to every address.
2. Delivery methods and prices
Each method has a name, a zone and a type:
- Fixed price: the same price for every order.
- Free delivery: always free.
- Price by weight: a price for each weight band, for example up to 1 kg 40, up to 5 kg 90, above that 200.
- Price by order value: a price for each band of the items total, for example up to 500 a price of 70, up to 2,000 a price of 30.
- Local pickup: the shopper collects the order from you. See section 5.
In a band table, each band runs from the end of the band before it up to its own amount. Leave the last band's upper amount empty to cover everything above it. An order above the last band does not see that method.
Free above makes a method free once the items total reaches that amount. You can also limit a method to an order value or weight range: outside it, the method is not shown. Checkout lists methods in your order and picks the cheapest for the shopper, who can choose another.
3. Weight and heavy items
Weight decides the price band and any weight limits. Set each product's weight in grams on the product page, under Shipping and customs. A variant with its own weight uses that. A product with no weight uses the Fallback product weight on the Shipping page (500 g until you change it). The order's weight is the weight of each item times its quantity, added up.
For something heavy or bulky, add a Heavy item charge on its product page. It is added to every delivery option for each one ordered, even free delivery, so it still covers your cost. It is not added to pickup.
4. Handling fee
A handling fee is one amount per order, for packing or materials. It is added to paid delivery options. It is not added to pickup, to a free delivery method, or when an order is over a method's free above amount.
The price a shopper sees for a delivery option is the method's price plus the handling fee and any heavy item charges.
5. Local pickup
Pickup is offered to every shopper and needs no delivery address: a name, phone number and email are enough. Add Pickup instructions, for example your address, opening hours and what to bring. Shoppers see them when they choose pickup. Pickup is always free.
Under Ready for pickup after, set how many working days after processing the order is ready. The shopper sees, for example, Ready for pickup from Fri 30 Oct.
6. Delivery dates
Each option at checkout shows a date, for example Arrives Tue 4 Nov to Fri 7 Nov. Four settings decide it:
- Processing days (default 1): working days you need to pack an order before it ships. 0 means it ships the same day.
- Order cut-off time (default 16:00): orders placed after this time count from the next working day.
- Working days (default Monday to Saturday): the days you pack and couriers deliver. Other days are skipped.
- Time zone: the cut-off time and dates use it. It starts as your country's time zone.
Then each method's Delivery time, for example 2 to 4, is counted in working days after the order ships. A method with no delivery time shows no date.
For example, with the defaults: an order placed on Thursday at 10:00 counts from Thursday and ships on Friday. With a delivery time of 2 to 4 working days it arrives Monday to Wednesday, because Sunday is skipped. The same order placed at 17:00 counts from Friday, ships on Saturday and arrives Tuesday to Thursday.
The date is saved on the order. Once you mark the order shipped, the date is worked out again from the day it shipped.
7. Pack, ship and deliver
Open the order from Orders. After you accept it, the order page shows one step at a time:
- 1Start processing when you begin work on the order.
- 2Pack and create fulfillment when it is packed. You can add a packing note.
- 3Mark shipped when the courier has it. Enter the courier and the tracking number. A tracking link is optional.
- 4Mark delivered when it has arrived.
Steps go forward only: a shipped order cannot go back to packed, and an order cannot be delivered before it is shipped. You can cancel an order until it ships. The same rules apply when you or an AI assistant changes an order.
You don't have to wait for every delivery. Mark as delivered after (default 7 days) marks a shipped order delivered that many days after you shipped it, unless it is already delivered. Set it to 0 to turn this off. The shopper can also press I received my order on their order page, and you can still mark it delivered yourself.
8. What the shopper sees
- At checkout, the delivery options appear as soon as their address is complete, each with its price and date. The cheapest is chosen for them. If nothing fits their address, checkout says so.
- Their order page shows each step with its date and time, the delivery date, and the courier, tracking number and link once you ship.
- Emails at each step link to that order page. The confirmed and shipped emails include the delivery date, and the shipped email names the courier and tracking number.
- Signed-in shoppers see the same on their account's order pages.
What LotsStore does and doesn't do
- It works out which delivery options each order gets, their prices and dates, from your settings, and keeps them on the order.
- It does not book couriers, print labels or follow parcels for you. You send each order with the courier you choose and add the tracking number.
- Delivery dates are estimates from your own settings. Keep your processing days and delivery times honest so the dates hold.
Questions
Do you take a cut of my sales?
No. You pay per store, and LotsStore takes 0% of your sales. Shoppers pay straight into your own payment account, and LotsStore never holds the money. Your payment provider charges its own processing fee, separately.
How do my customers pay?
You choose which ways to offer. Online by card or wallet through your own Stripe account, in the countries Stripe supports, with the money going straight to you in your store's currency. By placing the order on WhatsApp and settling with you directly. And for businesses registered in India, through your own Razorpay account, or by UPI to your UPI ID, which you confirm against your bank app. Connecting Stripe or Razorpay takes a few minutes, with step-by-step guides.
Which countries can I sell from?
Sixteen: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa and India. You pick your country when you open the store, and it sells in that country's currency.
What about tax?
Set your own rates by country, state or ZIP, choose tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive prices, group products by tax category and issue numbered tax invoices. Stores in India get GST with HSN and SAC codes. If you take payments with Stripe, you can switch on Stripe Tax and let it calculate the tax for every order. Business buyers can add their VAT number, and every refund gets a credit note.
Is there a free trial?
New accounts get free LotsTech Credits, enough to run one store for about a month. No card needed to start. After that, choose a plan or keep paying as you go with credits.
How do I use my own domain?
Your own domain works on every plan. Open your store, then Domains, enter an address such as shop.yourbusiness.com and press Connect domain. At your domain provider, add the CNAME record shown, pointing to customers.mylots.store, then press Verify DNS. DNS changes can take up to an hour; HTTPS is set up for you once the record is in place. Only the owner or an admin can connect a domain, and your yourstore.mylots.store address keeps working.
What happens if I stop paying?
Nothing is deleted. Your storefront stays readable, new orders pause, and your dashboard becomes read-only until the store is funded again. Orders already placed can still be fulfilled and refunded.
Can I move my existing catalog?
Yes. Add products one by one or import a whole catalog from a spreadsheet (CSV file) in Products, Import / export: up to 500 products and 2 MB per file. Each product needs a title and a price. A blank currency means your store's currency. A row in another currency, with a blank or 0.00 price, or with a price of more than two decimal places (like 1.005) is not imported: it is listed back with its row number and the reason, and you can download that list, fix the rows and import them again.
How do shoppers sign in?
With a one-time code or link sent to their email, or with Google. There's no password to remember.
Where do customer replies go?
To your store's support email, once you confirm it from the link we send you.
Can I get a WhatsApp message when I get a new order?
Yes. In your store's Settings, turn on WhatsApp alerts, add your own WhatsApp number and confirm it with the code we send you. You then get a message for every new order, with the order number, how many items and the total, and a button that opens the order. You can also get one when a customer says they paid by UPI. Reply STOP or turn alerts off in Settings to stop. The messages come from our business account on WhatsApp, which shows our company name, not a phone number, and only you receive them.
Will it work on mobile?
Yes. Your storefront, your shoppers' accounts and your dashboard all work on phones, tablets and desktops.
Is there an assistant in the dashboard?
Yes. Ask AI sits in the dashboard sidebar, and the full page is at https://agent.lotsstore.app. Ask it in your own words, for example to add a product, update stock, find an order or explain a setting. It works with your own role, so it can only do what you can do. Anything that sends or deletes shows a Confirm card first. Refunds stay in the dashboard, and it can give you a link to buy a plan or credits, but only you can pay, on the checkout page.
Can LotsTech support help me fix something?
Yes. Open your store, go to Team and choose Invite LotsTech support. Say what you need help with and choose how long: 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. Support works on that store only and asks you before publishing anything, unless you let it publish fixes live. It cannot connect or change your payment accounts. You can see what support did and remove access at any time. Owners and admins can invite support.
Can I offer discount codes?
Yes. In Discounts, create a code that takes a percentage or a fixed amount off the whole order, and set it to Active. Your customers type it in the Discount code field in the cart or at checkout, and the order summary shows the discount. One code per order. You can limit how many orders can use a code: an order counts once it is paid, reported paid or confirmed, or once it is placed on WhatsApp, and a cancelled order does not count. A code that is inactive, used up or from another store is not accepted. Turning a code off stops new orders from using it; orders already placed keep their discount. Codes cannot be limited to certain products, dates or a minimum order yet.
Can I manage my store from ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. Connect LotsStore to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or any MCP agent, sign in with your Lots account, and ask it to add products, update stock, accept orders or create discount codes. Every change shows up in your dashboard, which does the whole job on its own too.
Is my data safe?
Your data is encrypted and backed up every night, with a locked copy at a separate provider, and we test our restores. You sign in with Google or an email code, so there's no account password to steal. You can export your data and delete your account at any time. You can export your products and orders, and payments go straight to your own Stripe or Razorpay account. We never see card numbers. How we protect it: www.lotstech.com/security
Do plans include LotsNotes Pro?
Yes. An active LotsStore Pro or Business plan includes LotsNotes Pro while it lasts; sign in to LotsNotes with the same email. Starter and pay as you go don't include it.
How do I take UPI payments?
On Payments, tick Take UPI payments and add your UPI ID and the payee name shoppers will see. UPI is for stores that sell in Indian rupees. Shoppers pay your UPI ID from any UPI app and the money goes straight to your bank. Each order has a payment window you set, from 5 minutes to 24 hours (30 minutes by default); unpaid orders expire and their stock goes back on sale. When a shopper reports paying, you have 24 hours to check your bank or UPI app, then press Confirm payment received or Payment not found.
How do WhatsApp orders work?
On Payments, turn on Order on WhatsApp and add your WhatsApp number with the country code. At checkout LotsStore creates an order request and opens a ready-made WhatsApp message to you. You agree payment with the shopper directly, then open the order, press Record offline payment and accept it. Every WhatsApp order waits for you to accept it. Each request stays open for the time you set, 12 hours unless you change it.
How do I refund a UPI or WhatsApp order?
LotsStore can't send money for UPI or WhatsApp orders. Send the refund from your own UPI or bank app, then open the order and record it under Refunds with the transaction ID. Recording it moves no money; it keeps the order and its records right. Only the store owner or an admin can refund an order.
Can my team help?
Open your store, then Team, and invite people by email. The owner and admins can invite. Admin manages settings, payments, shipping, taxes, products, orders, customers and the team. Manager runs daily work: products, stock, orders, customers, discounts, reviews and analytics. Staff helps with products and stock, and Viewer can only look. Invitations last 14 days, teammates are unlimited on every plan, and anyone except the owner can leave a store.
When can people see my store?
Until you publish, anyone who opens your store address sees a 'not found' page. When you're ready, the owner or an admin presses Publish now. You can keep adding products and changing the store afterwards. Design changes on Appearance are saved as a draft and go live only when you press Publish changes.
How do I change how my store looks?
Open your store, then Appearance. Pick a template, add your logo and colours, and set the hero, announcement and homepage sections, with a live preview as you go. Navigation sets the header and footer links, and Pages and policies holds your About, Contact and policy pages. To keep a test store out of search results, tick Hide this store from search engines; people with the link can still shop.
Do I have to accept every order?
You choose on Payments, for the store and for each way to pay. Review every order means you accept or reject each one. Accept verified payments automatically accepts an order once its card or Razorpay payment is confirmed, or once you press Confirm payment received for a UPI payment. WhatsApp orders always wait for you.
How do I close a store?
The owner can archive a store at the bottom of Settings by typing the store name. The storefront goes offline and billing for that store stops. Nothing is deleted: products, orders and customers are kept, and you can restore the store from your store list for 30 days.
Can I export orders?
Yes. Owners and admins click Export orders on the Orders page, choose a date range of up to a year and a status, and get a CSV file with one row per item: customer, address, products, totals, payment, shipping and refunds.
What does it cost?
You pay per store, and every feature is on every plan. Starter covers 1 store, Pro 3 and Business 10, monthly or yearly (two months free). Extra stores are charged at your plan's per-store rate from LotsTech Credits, or you can skip a plan and pay as you go per store from credits, charged daily. Products, orders, customers and teammates are unlimited. Prices: lotsstore.app/pricing.
Stuck? Email contact@lotstech.com. Other payment options: Stripe, Razorpay, or UPI and WhatsApp orders, set up on the same Payments page.
